8 Months On

Where to start?

I am updating this spot slowly. Each time I go on it takes a few goes before I can actually do some work because each photo has a memory and sometimes that memory makes me smile, sometimes it makes me sad. Eight months on ................

Tilly Meet Darcy - Darcy Meet Tilly

The final visit to Tilly's resting place took place today when we took the new puppy Darcy up to her graveside. The work on the farm is finished now so I won't be going up there anymore.

The pain is easing
Tho the sadness remains,
Without you here
Our lives have changed.

Your winning smile
A nature so sweet,
A better dog
you'd never meet.

You had your problems,
That much was true,
But over time,
We made it through.

And as time passed
And you settled down,
We had such fun,
You could be such a clown.

But every now and then,
Very quiet you'd be,
And we'd wonder if it
Was your past life you could see.

Now we have to remember
the lovely times we had,
And not think of things
to make us sad.

Our fun times out,
The way you'd smile,
These memories help us
for a while.

The games we played,
Like hide and seek,
I'd hide in the kitchen,
And round you'd peek.

Up and down
the stairlift you'd go
These little things
made us laugh so.

Such was your sweet nature
and winning ways
Forever in our hearts
you will always stay.

Time moves on
but the memories will stay
As we go
along life's way.

So, so long sweet Tilly
We have to go.
We'll never forget you,
WE MISS YOU SO XXX

Mum and Dad

I have updated some more of Tilly's travels from the first time we took her away to Wales, which you will find further down the page. As I am putting them in the original date order you will always have to look at older posts. There is one more from when we went to Land's End with the tent. This is possibly the best holiday we had with her because of all the different places we visited and the new experiences she had. Also because there was only my husband and I, we got to spend some real quality time just the three of us.

Then, unfortunately, there is no more to write. But contrary to what I was planning at first in shutting down the site, I will be keeping it open so we can visit her when we want.

In her short life and even shorter time with us, this little dog worked her way into everyone's hearts especially ours. For a few short months she had turned into the perfect dog. There was no messing in the house, no chewing. We could leave her outside shops without her fretting and she would happily sleep in her cage in the car overnight without any fuss. She also had the biggest smile for such a little dog, which she saved for those she loved the best. Others were just treated to her almost turning herself inside out with a waggy tail.

My family and friends keep telling me that at least she had a wonderfully happy life in the time we had her and I know in my heart that is true.

But, it doesn't stop me missing her so much........

Darcy Dodds

Following the sad demise of Tilly meet Darcy who has entered our lives with a bang! Darcy came to us on the 9th May at nearly 8 weeks old. She was born on St Patrick's Day hence the Irish name which means dark haired. Tilly is still a huge miss but Darcy is helping to ease our sorrow. To be frank, we are sometimes so busy running round after her, before we know it another day is nearly over!

Darcy has settled in really well after a first night of crying for her sibling. She already knows her toys and being a typical terrier goes in for the kill by pouncing on her ball or teddy, giving it a good shake to kill it and then settling down to have a bit chew. Like Tilly she is starting to recognise the children and shows pleasure when they come in. She now recognises her crate and quite happily puts herself to bed there when she is tired. She was extremely good at the vets and didn't even flinch when she had her first vaccination. Hope that doesn't change.

Darcy has followed in Tilly's footsteps by making herself at home next door with Mr and Mrs D (and on Mr D) and has already christened their floor thereby making her mark on their home.

As she gets older and starts to show her own personality I'm sure she will fit right in with our family. I am looking forward to the time when she can come on my bus travels and provide more little stories. She already has a caravan holiday to look forward to in September at Land's End so we are taking her out in the car for short journeys at first just to get her used to travelling, going a bit further afield at the weekend.
Watch this space....................

Tilly Our Little Friend

Not just a dog, she was a pal and a friend
That was Tilly to the end
Her start in life was not so good
She wasn't treated the way she should
But as she struggled along life's way
A new mam and dad turned up one day
Her life turned round, it was a doddle
As Tilly showed as she skipped and waddled
Full of fun and cheeky too
She never tired of things to do
Tilly gave love and licks to all
But ran straight back when she heard mam call
She loved to travel near and far
People she met said she was a star
Little Tilly we miss you so
Just how much you'll never know
Rest in peace little one up above
And as always we send our love
Margaret and Wilf

Tilly's Final Resting Place

High up on a hill under a lonesome tree my little Tilly Dog was laid to rest. Flowers were planted by each one of us and a message left under each plant.

Now some might say such a fuss for a dog, but those who knew Tilly would know that the fuss is justified.

Her sweet face and and even sweeter nature meant that everyone who met her was instantly drawn to her. She was such a character you couldn't help but love her.

Her final resting place is in a spot where she used to like to stand and look over the fields. She was like a little sentinel, ears pricked, one paw up off the ground surveying all around her on guard duty.............

R.I.P. Little Baby Girly

Tilly was laid to rest this morning at the farm where she passed away. She was buried under a tree at the top of a field overlooking the valley where she used to play. She has a good view as you can see.

I would like to share with you some tributes written by my daughter Sharen Dobson which were read at her graveside.

Tilly

These tears won't last forever
Our grief will slowly fade
But our sadness will replace it
With memories that were made

The joy of you was shared
For such a little while
But the image of your sweet little face
Will always make us smile

You were more like family to us
Never just a pet
You touched our lives so briefly
But we never shall forget

So sleep dear little Tilly
And dream a happy one
Although this sad day has happened
I'll never believe you're gone

Tilly

Lead the way little one so I may follow in your tracks
Bound ahead chasing sticks and stones and bounce to a stop
Run back to me little one and treat me to your smile
Carry yourself on your tiny body as though you were twice your size

Make the children laugh little one, bounce up high and chase them around

Make me laugh little one so I forget my cares.
Bring my life joy and happiness, make my troubles disappear

Cuddle up close little one, so I may put your ears right
Bury your head in my lap so I can see your sweet face
Walk with me little one, so I never feel alone
I know you've passed but your presence will always be felt
